7 Keys to Reviving Your Marriage
R
Recognition and Repentance
This is the starting block for revival. Couples must first recognize that they have drifted apart from each other and that they no longer possess the same level of love and excitement they once had for each other.
Revelation 2:1-7
E
Examine
Revival occurs when both spouses ask God to thoroughly examine their hearts and reveal any unconfessed sin and areas of growth.
Psalm 139:23-24; Lamentations 3:40
V
Vows
Reflecting back on the vows/covenant you both made first to God and to one another helps to renew your love and commitment to each other.
Malachi 2:14
I
Intentionality
Drifting apart from each other requires very little effort; however, building a healthy marriage requires time, effort, and a commitment from both spouses. A great marriage requires hard work! It doesn’t just happen on its own. Therefore, couples must be intentional and committed to doing the hard work of investing in their marriage.
V
Vertical
Revival occurs when both spouses recommit to consistently focusing and investing in their vertical relationship with God. Investing daily in their walk with God draws couples closer together relationally, bring deeper understanding, infuses your marriage with more grace, and increases your satisfaction at every level.
A
Appreciation
Appreciation in marriage helps more that you might think to keep lines of communication open and leave you feeling good about your spouse. Showing appreciation to each other is one of the secrets to our happy marriage.
L
Laugh
The happiest and most committed married couples make it a point to have fun together. Both spouses are intentional about spending time with one another and making fun and laughter a daily habit in their relationship. The more a couple laugh together, the more connected they feel, and the more likely they are to open up to one another.
