Assist the department with coordinating social media activities for the organization, including the writing, reviewing and editing of all social media content and creating ad campaigns for ministries by collaborating with staff from across the ministry to promote their goals and messages while maintaining and aligning with the church’s message and image.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification to support ministry goals, incorporating Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, and Instagram.
  • Generate, edit, publish and share daily content (original text, images, video or HTML) that builds meaningful connections and encourages ministry members and community to take action.
  • Monitor social media groups, trends, tools, and applications and recommend actions/ next steps.
  • Collaborate with other ministry areas to manage reputation, identify key players and coordinate actions to develop and post content on social media platforms to promote their programs and events.
  • Track social media influence measurements, partnering with other ministry areas to ensure proper online messaging and relevancy, ensuring consistency of messages across multiple networks.
  • Prepare reports to update internal staff on usage statistics, and continuous monitoring and coverage of all sites.
  • Respond to social media inquiries about online activities in a timely manner.
  • Partner with Executive Director to create and manage paid ad campaigns across social media platforms, tracking and analyzing its results and monitoring the social media budget.
  • Partner with graphic designers to create graphics to support the online presence of out ministry philosophy, mission, quotes and activities, as well as optimize user experience.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Information Technology or related field; two years direct responsibility a copy writer or social media coordinator; strong working knowledge of marketing principles; excellent communication skills (clean, articulate, and professional in speaking and writing) A working knowledge of best social media and basic internet protocols is essential.
