Bookstore Sales Associate

Summary

Assist with the daily operational needs of the bookstore and copy center by performing the following duties:

Essential Job Functions
  • Provide a friendly customer service environment by greeting all customers, anticipating customer needs, suggesting alternative options, and satisfying customer needs with minimal supervision.
  • Answer customer questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise.
  • Maintain solid product knowledge of the products sold in the bookstore and produced in the copy center.
  • Stamp, mark, or tag price on merchandise.
  • Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise by stocking shelves, counters, and tables and maintain clean display areas.
  • Complete all sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Process special orders received from customers.
  • Conduct opening and closing procedures for the store.
  • Set up and produce copies of printed, typewritten or machine-acceptable original material using photocopy equipment with reduction, enlargement, collating and binding capabilities.
  • Provide key operator services that include correcting stoppages by making minor adjustments in accordance with the equipment’s manufacturer’s operating guidelines.
  • Process copy center orders, provide copy center quotes, and maintain a working knowledge of the benefits of digital printing technology.
  • Fill reproduction printing jobs by operating peripheral equipment as prescribed on copy center request forms.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with computerized inventory system and Point of Sale is required. Must be able to work most Saturdays and Sundays and available during the week.
