Credit Union Manager

Summary: Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President/Manager provides strategic direction, vision, and leadership in all Credit Union functions. The President will be responsible for planning, directing and managing all activities in accordance with the Credit Union’s goals, policies and directives established by the Board of Directors.

The President/Manager leads the Credit union in ensuring government regulatory compliance, financial soundness and exceptional member service in all operations and service delivery channels. The Credit Union Leader establishes direction that is commensurate with the needs and best interests of the members, employees and the Credit Union.

This individual acts as primary liaison between the Credit Union and governmental regulatory agencies concerning compliance and overall Credit Union performance.

Primary Areas of Responsibility

Strategic Direction
  • Develops and implements strategy to expand services that meet shareholder needs.
  • Contacts customers, businesses, community, and civic organizations to promote goodwill and generate new business.
Financial/Fiscal Leadership
  • Oversees the flow of cash and financial instruments in accordance with organization policy.
  • Assesses risk of all financial transactions executed by organization personnel.
  • Collects data to analyze the present and future financial status of the organization.
  • Establishes procedures for custody and control of assets, records, loan collateral, and securities to ensure safekeeping.
  • Compiles and reports financial data as required by organization and government regulations.
  • Prepares reports needed to satisfy tax requirements.
  • Analyzes investment options and makes recommendations to Board of Directors.
  • Establishes and maintains contact with banking-related industries such as insurance, real estate, and securities.
Policy and Compliance
  • Coordinates, and monitors activities to implement the institution's policies, procedures, and practices concerning granting or extending lines of credit, commercial loans, and consumer credit loans.
  • Directs activities involving implementation of establishment services and functions including collecting delinquent accounts, authorizing loans, or opening savings accounts.
  • Examines, evaluates, and processes loan applications.
  • Works with the Board to raise capital as needed.
Managerial Leadership
  • Communicates regularly with the Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee and Credit Committee.
  • Talks with customers to resolve account problems and ensure excellent customer experience.
Credit Union Operations
  • Stays abreast of the data processing needs of the Credit Union and ensures that changes and upgrades occur as necessary to meet the needs of the members, employees and other stakeholders.
  • Manages various vendor relationships, ensuring consistently high levels of quality and value for the members, employees and the Credit Union.
Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field; MBA a plus
  • At least five years of management experience (Credit Union industry a plus) with a track record of measureable results
  • Thorough knowledge of Credit Union financials, regulatory requirements, and products and services
  • Strong knowledge of strategic planning, credit union data systems, lending and operations
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with employees, members, Board of Directors, community stakeholders and regulators
  • Proficient computer skills including; Outlook, Word, Excel and other computer programs
Morals and Character
  • The successful candidate will be a Christian who fully supports the philosophy of OCBF Church and its leadership team.
  • Be a member of OCBF Church or willing to become a member. Must have completed Membership Orientation and Spiritual Growth classes.
  • Maintains a growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, fasting, confession and fellowship.
