Summary: Provide career services assistance to the community by advising participants on job search strategies, resume writing, hiring event information, and maintaining a job by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide career readiness assistance and develop job opportunities for program participants.
  • Recruit and promote participants to the employer community and work with employers to identify diverse career opportunities.
  • Assist clients with resume building and career searches.
  • Ensure the career board and binder contain current information related to career and training opportunities.
  • Assist in scheduling and holding career fairs within the Technology Education & Career Services Dept.
  • Build and promote working relationships with different community employers.
  • Develop individualized employment and educational plans with participants.
  • Identify potential employers with a focus of developing employment opportunities for program participants.
  • Collaborate with and maintain productive relationships with area service providers, officials, and other community career partners.
  • Answer questions related to course trainings, certification testing and career opportunities.
  • Serve students and volunteers as needed with course information and training materials.
  • Become a testing center administrator and proctor.
  • Assist with testers and I-9 processing.
  • Assist in ensuring the testing rooms and computers are prepared daily to receive candidates by cleaning computers and desks as well as ensuring computers are updated accordingly.
  • Instruct career readiness classes onsite/offsite.
  • Create career fair flyers using computer software.
  • Assist in confirming and updating career fair inventory.
Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Human Services or a related field preferred. The successful candidate will have knowledge of community resources and experience in working directly with community groups.
