Teen Turn•Around Ministry
The Teen TurnAround ministry serves the spiritual and religious needs of juveniles in the Henry Wade Juvenile Detention Center. The ministry is designed to reach incarcerated youth who are capable of being strong representatives of Christ in their communities upon release. The ministry provides incarcerated teens with encouragement, teaching, and preaching that support healing and spiritual and personal growth – resulting in better lives and decision-making skills.

The ministry provides access to resources that foster and support a successful reintegration (re-entry) into society, family, and community upon release. Teens are encouraged and empowered to break the cycle of incarceration so that their transformed lives could reflect the Kingdom of God. More specifically, we make every effort to:
  • Give incarcerated youth a chance at a new life. (Matthew 25:35)
  • Demonstrate practical ways OCBF can make a difference. (Isaiah 61:1)
  • Show that “freedom” can be achieved while inside the walls. (Hebrews 12:1)
Prison Ministry volunteers are trained to minister in the areas of evangelism, discipleship/mentoring, correspondence, life skills and family support. These dedicated volunteers are lay preachers, Bible study leaders and devout Christians who are willing to go into the prison walls to minister to the downtrodden, oppressed, and sometimes forgotten youth of society. Activities include:
  • Weekly Bible Studies for discipleship and mentoring. (Supplemental study: Dr. Tony Evans’ book, Free At Last)
  • Family Support Services through The TurnAround Agenda offering social and spiritual assistance to support newly released youth and their families.
If you have strong communication skills, love of people, compassion, mercy, and are willing to undergo a criminal background check, then prison ministry is for you. Our volunteers serve once a week on assigned Sundays and Mondays. Location of facility:
