Department: Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship (OCBF)

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides executive-level financial leadership to ensure the long-term financial health, stewardship, and sustainability of the organization. This role is responsible for developing and overseeing financial strategy, planning, reporting, compliance, and risk management while serving as a key advisor to the Lead Pastor and executive leadership team.

Core Responsibilities

Ministerial Responsibilities & Spiritual Care

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with the philosophy, ministry, and vision of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship.
  • Support the spiritual, social, emotional, and physical well-being of the church family through prayer, presence, and ministry engagement.
  • Provide prayer, spiritual assistance, and ministerial support to coworkers and individuals encountered in the course of work.
  • Communicate and model biblical principles during staff meetings, ministry activities, and church events.
  • Model a lifestyle consistent with biblical principles and the church’s core values.
  • Engage in ongoing spiritual discipleship while faithfully carrying out essential job responsibilities in support of the church’s mission to disciple believers and impact the world.

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead the development of long-term financial strategy aligned with the church’s vision and ministry priorities.
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis processes.
  • Oversee enterprise financial risk management, ensuring appropriate controls, safeguards, and mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Provide forward-looking financial analysis, scenario planning, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting to and engagement with the elders, executive leadership, and governing bodies, supporting transparency, accountability, and informed oversight.
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to align financial practices with ministry and organizational priorities.
  • Evaluate and enhance financial processes, systems, and reporting tools.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit, regulatory, and financial reporting requirements.

Vendor & External Partnership Management

  • Serve as primary liaison with external accounting partners, auditors, investment advisors, and financial vendors.
  • Ensure quality service delivery, compliance with standards, and effective communication across partners.
  • Support audit processes and ensure readiness for financial reviews and compliance requirements.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and support finance team members through coaching, clear expectations, and ongoing professional development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, stewardship, collaboration, and operational excellence within the finance function.
  • Provide regular feedback, performance guidance, and recognition to promote engagement and continuous growth.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with ministry, operational, and administrative leaders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA, MBA, or advanced credential preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 7 years of executive-level or senior leadership responsibility.
  • Expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, reporting, and compliance experience, familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and stewardship practices is a plus.
  • Experience managing external vendors, auditors, or accounting partners.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate financial insights into actionable business decisions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across leadership levels and functions.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic financial leadership, long-term planning, and executive advisory.
