Department: Kingdom Collegiate Academy (KCA)

The Middle School English Language Arts Teacher provides Christ-centered, academically rigorous instruction that develops students as thoughtful readers, effective writers, articulate speakers, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners. This role is responsible for designing and delivering engaging English Language Arts instruction that strengthens literacy, communication, research, grammar, vocabulary, literature analysis, and written expression in a college-preparatory learning environment.

Core Responsibilities

Ministerial Responsibilities & Spiritual Care

As a teacher within Kingdom Collegiate Academy, an educational ministry of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, this position is both instructional and ministerial. The Middle School ELA Teacher helps nurture students’ spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and personal development through biblical integration, instructional excellence, relational care, and a classroom culture that reflects Christian values. The teacher models a life of faith, integrity, prayer, excellence, servanthood, and devotion to God while partnering with families and school leaders to support the mission of discipling students to impact the world.

Instructional Planning and Delivery

  • Teach English Language Arts content and skills to middle school students, including reading comprehension, literary analysis, grammar, vocabulary, writing, research, speaking, listening, and presentation skills.
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with KCA curriculum expectations, applicable standards, and instructional goals for middle school English Language Arts.
  • Create engaging learning experiences that expose students to a variety of literary genres, nonfiction texts, informational texts, poetry, drama, media, and writing forms.
  • Design instruction that helps students analyze texts, evaluate ideas, support claims with evidence, communicate clearly, and develop strong written and oral expression.
  • Provide instruction in the full writing process, including planning, drafting, revising, editing, publishing, and presenting written work.
  • Develop students’ understanding and application of language conventions, including grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, word choice, style, tone, context, and audience.
  • Incorporate research-based instructional strategies, student-centered learning, collaborative activities, project-based learning, discussion, and critical thinking opportunities.
  • Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet the diverse academic needs, learning styles, readiness levels, and developmental needs of students.

Student Growth, Assessment, and Academic Support

  • Use pre-assessments, formative assessments, summative assessments, writing samples, class discussions, projects, and other measures to monitor student learning and guide instruction.
  • Provide timely, specific, and constructive feedback to students in order to strengthen academic growth
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of grades, attendance, assignments, assessments, and student progress.
  • Identify students who need academic support, enrichment, intervention, or additional challenge, and provide appropriate instructional adjustments.
  • Collaborate with school leaders, support staff, and families to address academic, behavioral, social, or developmental concerns.

Classroom Culture and Student Development

  • Establish and maintain a structured, respectful, safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment that supports learning and reflects KCA’s values.
  • Set clear expectations for student conduct, participation, effort, academic integrity, and classroom procedures.
  • Promote positive student behavior through consistent expectations, relational leadership, encouragement, accountability, and restorative guidance.
  • Provide guidance and support to students when academic, behavioral, social, or emotional adjustments are needed.

Family Partnership and Communication

  • Communicate proactively and professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress, academic achievement, behavior, social development, and areas of concern.
  • Use approved communication channels, including email, phone, conferences, learning platforms, and school systems, to keep families and administration appropriately informed.
  • Partner with families to support students’ academic, spiritual, and personal growth.
  • Initiate timely communication when students demonstrate patterns of concern or when additional support may be needed.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings, parent meetings, professional development, in-service trainings, devotionals, committees, and school-sponsored events as required.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to support instructional alignment, student success, school culture, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student, family, personnel, and school matters.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, preparedness, flexibility, and a commitment to continuous growth as an educator and ministry leader.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and operations of Kingdom Collegiate Academy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, English Language Arts, or a related field required.
  • Valid state teaching certification or ability to obtain certification required.
  • Prior middle school teaching experience in English Language Arts preferred.
  • Ability to integrate biblical principles and the Christian worldview into instruction and student development.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, organization, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and support students with varying academic needs and learning styles.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology, learning management systems, digital communication tools, and classroom platforms.
