Department: Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship (OCBF)
The Director of Counseling & Reconciliation provides strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and ministry direction for Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship’s counseling and reconciliation ministries. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality counseling services, supervising licensed and pre-licensed counselors, developing counseling programs, and fostering biblical reconciliation across the ministry. The Director serves as both a clinical practitioner and ministry leader, helping individuals, couples, families, leaders, and ministry teams experience spiritual, emotional, and relational health through Christ-centered care and restoration.
Core Responsibilities
Ministerial Responsibilities & Spiritual Care
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with the philosophy, ministry, and vision of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship.
- Support the spiritual, social, emotional, and physical well-being of the church family through prayer, presence, and ministry engagement.
- Provide prayer, spiritual assistance, and ministerial support to coworkers and individuals encountered in the course of work.
- Communicate and model biblical principles during staff meetings, ministry activities, and church events.
- Model a lifestyle consistent with biblical principles and the church’s core values.
- Engage in ongoing spiritual discipleship while faithfully carrying out essential job responsibilities in support of the church’s mission to disciple believers and impact the world.
Counseling Leadership & Clinical Oversight
- Provide leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the counseling ministry, ensuring alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the church.
- Deliver direct counseling services to individuals, couples, families, and groups as needed.
- Develop and implement counseling programs, workshops, support groups, and resources that address the spiritual, emotional, and relational needs of the congregation and community.
- Establish and maintain counseling policies, procedures, documentation standards, and ethical guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state licensing requirements, professional standards, confidentiality regulations, and risk management practices.
- Monitor counseling outcomes and ministry effectiveness through data, feedback, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with pastors, ministry leaders, and staff to provide coordinated care and support for members and attendees.
Counselor Development & Supervision
- Provide clinical supervision for counselors pursuing licensure in accordance with state requirements.
- Recruit, train, develop, and mentor licensed counselors, counseling interns, and volunteer counseling team members.
- Create a pathway for counselor development, continuing education, and professional growth.
- Conduct regular supervision meetings, case reviews, and development discussions to ensure quality care and counselor effectiveness.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and oversight required for supervisees seeking licensure.
Reconciliation Ministry Leadership
- Lead the church’s reconciliation ministry, providing guidance and support for conflict resolution efforts involving individuals, families, ministry teams, and leaders.
- Develop and implement biblical reconciliation processes that promote restoration, unity, forgiveness, and healthy relationships.
- Facilitate mediation, reconciliation conversations, and restorative interventions when appropriate.
- Equip ministry leaders and volunteers with tools and training for healthy communication, conflict resolution, and relationship restoration.
- Assess matters for potential legal, compliance, safety, or organizational risk and appropriately escalate to executive leadership, legal, human resources, or other designated partners.
- Establish referral pathways when situations require specialized support or professional intervention.
Team & Operational Leadership
- Lead, develop, and support team members through coaching, clear expectations, and ongoing professional development.
- Lead with a shepherd’s heart, demonstrating care for people while driving clarity, structure, and results.
- Provide regular feedback, performance guidance, and recognition to promote engagement and continuous growth.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, unity, and shared ownership across ministries.
- Develop and manage the ministry budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and ministry metrics.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field required.
- Advanced clinical training or certifications preferred.
- Current Texas licensure required (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or equivalent designation). LPC-S, LMFT-S, LCSW-S, or equivalent supervisory designation preferred
- Must possess supervisory credentials required to provide clinical supervision for individuals pursuing licensure in Texas.
- Good standing with all applicable licensing boards.
- 7+ years of counseling experience.
- 3+ years of leadership, supervision, or ministry management experience preferred.
- Experience supervising counselors pursuing licensure strongly preferred.
- Experience in mediation, conflict resolution, reconciliation, or restorative practices preferred.
- Experience serving within a church, ministry, or faith-based organization strongly preferred.
