Department: Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship (OCBF)

The Director of NextGen Kids provides visionary leadership for the church’s ministry to children, creating environments where children are known, loved, valued, spiritually developed, and commissioned to live for Christ. This leader is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive discipleship strategy for children from birth through elementary age, equipping volunteers and leaders, partnering with parents as the primary disciplers of their children, and ensuring safe, engaging, and spiritually transformative ministry experiences. The Director of NextGen Kids cultivates a culture that reflects the mission, vision, and values of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship while fostering the next generation of Kingdom disciples.

Core Responsibilities

Ministerial Responsibilities & Spiritual Care

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with the philosophy, ministry, and vision of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship.
  • Support the spiritual, social, emotional, and physical well-being of the church family through prayer, presence, and ministry engagement.
  • Provide prayer, spiritual assistance, and ministerial support to coworkers and individuals encountered in the course of work.
  • Communicate and model biblical principles during staff meetings, ministry activities, and church events.
  • Model a lifestyle consistent with biblical principles and the church’s core values.
  • Engage in ongoing spiritual discipleship while faithfully carrying out essential job responsibilities in support of the church’s mission to disciple believers and impact the world.

Ministry Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide strategic leadership for all NextGen Kids ministry initiatives, programs, and experiences, ensuring alignment with the church’s mission, vision, values, and discipleship philosophy.
  • Develop and execute a long-term ministry strategy that supports the spiritual growth and discipleship of children from birth through elementary age.
  • Establish annual ministry goals, key initiatives, and measurable outcomes that advance the effectiveness and impact of the ministry.
  • Continuously assess ministry effectiveness, utilizing feedback, participation trends, volunteer insights, and ministry metrics to drive improvement and innovation.
  • Serve as the primary advocate for children’s discipleship within the broader ministry strategy of the church.
  • Lead the development and implementation of age-appropriate discipleship pathways that help children understand the gospel, develop biblical literacy, grow in spiritual maturity, and live out their faith.
  • Oversee curriculum selection, teaching strategies, and ministry experiences to ensure theological accuracy, biblical depth, and engaging learning environments.
  • Create opportunities for children to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and actively participate in the life of the church.
  • Champion a ministry philosophy that equips parents and guardians as the primary spiritual influencers in the lives of their children.
  • Build meaningful relationships with parents and caregivers, providing encouragement, support, and connection to church resources.

Volunteer Culture, Training & Development

  • Recruit, develop, equip, and retain a highly engaged volunteer leadership team capable of delivering excellent ministry experiences.
  • Create and sustain a volunteer culture that reflects servant leadership, spiritual growth, teamwork, accountability, and excellence.
  • Establish volunteer onboarding, training, coaching, recognition, and leadership development processes.
  • Identify and develop future ministry leaders, creating pathways for increasing responsibility and ministry ownership.
  • Provide direct leadership and coaching to staff and key volunteer leaders.

Safety, Risk Management & Stewardship

  • Maintain a culture of safety by overseeing child protection policies, volunteer screening processes, emergency preparedness plans, and ministry safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all church policies and applicable ministry standards related to child safety and security.
  • Regularly evaluate ministry environments, procedures, and practices to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Develop and manage the annual ministry budget with a commitment to faithful stewardship and responsible resource allocation.
  • Assess ministry facility needs and recommend enhancements that improve ministry effectiveness and the overall family experience.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and support team members and volunteers through coaching, clear expectations, and ongoing professional development.
  • Lead with a shepherd’s heart, demonstrating care for people while driving clarity, structure, and results.
  • Provide regular feedback, performance guidance, and recognition to promote engagement and continuous growth.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, unity, and shared ownership across ministries.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Ministry, Christian Education, Leadership, Education, or a related field, or equivalent ministry experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in children’s ministry, family ministry, education, or a related environment.
  • Experience leading and developing volunteer teams.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop ministry strategy and execute initiatives effectively.
