Volunteer Opportunities

The Turn-Around Agenda (TTA)
is the social outreach arm of OCBF. There are several opportunities to impact the community through TTA:
• Food Pantry
• Thrift Store
• Technology & Education Institute
• Family Care Pregnancy Center
• Public School Outreach (Mentors)
• Athletic Leagues

OCBF Outreach
• Soul Patrol: Teams hit the streets on the 1st through 4th Friday nights and 3rd and 4th Saturday mornings of each month to do direct contact prayer and evangelism.
• Prison Ministry: Ministry to incarcerated adults.
• Teen Turn-Around Ministry: Ministry to incarcerated youth.
• Homeless Ministry: See Partnering Ministries
• Harvesters: Individuals who provide prayer and discipleship-type counseling to Sunday morning worshippers.

Volunteer at an OCBF mission event
The mission team plans and executes several large events each year. You can be part of one of these exciting events without being a part of the mission team. If a specific contact person is not listed with the event, contact Rev. Ron Nelson or call the Evangelism and Missions office at 214-672-9100, ext.1604.

A Taste Of The World
This event, held each October, showcases the year’s short-term ministry trips through unique displays and delicious food. You’ll have opportunities to Skype with a Real Live Missionary, write your favorite missionary a note of encouragement, and gather info from partner organizations. There’s room for every skill from computer technology to greeting people, and from construction to serving food.

Operation Christmas Child
There’s nothing like the face of a child opening a box of gifts, especially when that child may have never received a gift in his or her life! OCBF joins with Samaritan’s Purse to send shoeboxes of gifts to children in another country as a display of God’s love for them.

Perspectives on the World Christian Movement
This 13-week class looks into the history, challenges and future of God’s global movement to reach all mankind with the Gospel. Volunteers will be needed prior to the class and at each class to facilitate logistics.

World Vision Experience: AIDS
This interactive, walk-through exhibit will transport you into the heart of Africa — and the life of a child. Coming to OCBF in October 2011, many volunteers will be needed to help with many details during the 7-day event.

AWANA missions emphasis
Assist the AWANA team as they bring a month of missions-oriented teaching and fun activities to our elementary-aged children. If you love kids, here’s a place your gifts can be used to the max.

Be part of the OCBF missions team
These enthusiastic people are involved in programs that target the world for Christ. Our missionaries touch at least 11 countries, with short-term teams going to 4 of them. There are opportunities to:
• PRAY for current needs around the world.
• SUPPORT our missionaries in practical, loving ways.
• PLAN mission-themed events to impact the entire OCBF family.
• KEEP the mission web pages current, and many others.
